At Aderant, we believe that technology has the power to transform lives—and that transformation should be accessible to all. That’s why we’re proud to support Bold Idea, a Dallas-based nonprofit helping underrepresented youth develop the skills and confidence to succeed in the tech industry.
Computer science is essential today, yet many students—especially girls and Black and Latinx youth—lack access to the teachers, curriculum, and technology needed to succeed. In Dallas, where tech jobs are booming and the workforce is projected to grow 17% in the next decade, this divide threatens to leave the next generation behind.
Bold Idea is acting. Through free programs like ideaSpark Coding Clubs for 3rd-8th graders and Code Prep for high schoolers, students gain hands-on experience with Scratch, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python. They’re also learning how to think critically, solve problems, and build confidence in a space that welcomes them as future innovators.
Bold Idea is especially meaningful because it was inspired by Founder Robyn Brown’s personal journey. Growing up passionate about technology, Robyn didn’t have access to guidance or resources—until she found her path into the industry. Now, she and her team are committed to helping students from 3rd to 12th grade find their way early on, with support from schools, trained tech professionals, and community partners.
“At Bold Idea, we are committed to breaking down barriers and providing under-resourced students with the opportunities and support they need to succeed in computer science,” said Robyn Brown, Founder of Bold Idea.
Since 2014, the organization has impacted thousands of students—including Zion from southern Dallas. While in the program, Zion created a mobile app about bullying prevention and presented it at Demo Day. Today, she’s studying computer science at Southern Methodist University and giving back as a Bold Idea mentor. Stories like hers remind us why this work matters.
“Our programs are designed to inspire and equip students with the skills and confidence to pursue careers in technology, ultimately transforming their futures and their communities,” said Brown.
As part of our commitment to empowering the community around us, Aderant is proud to contribute to Bold Idea’s mission to provide more equitable access to computer science in underserved communities. This is more than a collaboration, it’s an investment in the innovators of tomorrow and a part of Aderant Cares, an initiative to engage in efforts that positively impact the communities we visit for Momentum Global.
We’re grateful to the Bold Idea team for their vision and passion, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration to bring computer science education to more communities across the Dallas community.
